The story behind

He built a tower for his books. Or for his secret.

At the edge of a cliff in Rennes-le-Château stands a small neo-Gothic tower. Bérenger Saunière, the village priest, built it at the end of the 19th century with money nobody could ever trace — a poor country priest who suddenly spent a fortune, renovated everything, entertained guests from far away, and answered no questions. He called the tower Magdala, and filled it with his library.

He died without explaining anything. The village kept his silence, the theories multiplied, and the tower stayed exactly where he left it, holding whatever it holds. Paper burns and people forget — but the stones can remember.

The process

Drawn by hand. Nothing digital.

Each piece begins with an archival fineliner and weeks of hatching — thousands of intersecting strokes laid down one at a time, with no undo and no layers. There is no tablet and no filter at any stage of the original: heavyweight cotton paper, permanent lightfast ink. What you see is exactly what the pen left behind.

One drawing takes longer than most people spend reading the novel that inspired it.

Which paper is used?

The original pieces are drawn in 100% cotton paper 300gsm, and the fine art prints are made on archival cotton paper designed to last for decades without fading.

When will my artwork arrive?

Each piece is prepared and packaged carefully before shipping.

How is my artwork packed for shipping?

Every artwork is carefully packaged with two priorities in mind: protection and presentation. Unframed works travel flat between rigid boards; framed works are corner-protected and boxed.
